Title Ft. Nelson Building, Tiger and Tornado ('Whirling Tiger of the Air,' Tornado of 1890)
Description Painted and carved wooden walking stick with a black rubber stopper on its base. Extending up from the base is the brown shaft of the walking stick that extends into a green painted portion of the walking stick that depicts the geographical area of the Portland neighborhood in Louisville, Kentucky. Along with green grass yellow buildings are depicted. Extending up from there is the blue Ohio River followed by a black tornado cloud with an orange tiger extending from the top of the funnel cloud. On the top of the funnel cloud is a yellow sidewalk and then a four-story red brick building. The windows are filled with blue sky and white clouds. A chimney stack extends from the right-hand side of the building in the shape of an arrow.
Provenance Used to create the molds on the tree guards representing the 'Whirling Tiger of the Air' tornado of 1890 at 801 West Main Street in Louisville, Kentucky.
